Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate CHUO's 15th anniversary last night. We were joyfully entertained by J'envoie, Ukrania and the Fiftymen. A great time was had by all, including our delegates from the National Campus and Community Radio Conference. Some of which I'd like to welcome to this mailing list!
On tonight’s show, we’ll be speaking with Ottawa musician, AMANDA RHEAUME. Her band is performing at Zaphods’ later in the evening. THE AMANDA RHEAUME BAND’s latest EP, Even When, released late last year has caught the attention of music fans across the country. The band delivers energetic rock led by Amanda’s passionate and fierce vocals. Along with current favorites, Amanda tells me they are going to be playing new, unreleased material at their gig this evening and will also be giving away some prizes! There’s lots of entertainment to catch in Ottawa this weekend, including a FREE outdoor arts and music festival: WESTFEST. It’s a diverse two-day celebration of music, visual, literary, dance, spoken word, and performance art. Festival activities take place in Ottawa’s Westboro Village on Richmond Road, between McRae and Golden on Saturday and Sunday. WESTFEST's Communications Director, Suki Lee, will be joining us to talk about the event. Suki Lee is also a celebrated Canadian fiction writer, and author of the collection of short stories, Sapphic Traffic.
